A Maruti Suzuki dealer, based in a small town called Kottakkunnu Malappuram, Kerala, created a new record by delivering 200 freshly launched Alto 800 units in a single day on October 19, 2012. In a special ceremony, the new owners of the Alto 800 were handed over the keys and the 200 variants comprised both petrol and CNG models. Further, P. K. Kunhalikutty, Minister for Industries and Information Technology, Kerala presided over the ceremonious occasion and did the honours by handing over the keys of the new Alto 800 entry-level small car to its respective owners.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's favourite passenger car maker, introduced the brand new Alto 800 on the domestic turf on October 16, 2012. Pegged as 'the most awaited car of the year', Alto 800 helped MSIL in pulling off advanced bookings of over 10,000 units of its new product within just three weeks. The car comes in six trim levels with three models being petrol run, while the other three featuring factory fitted dual fuel petrol-CNG kits. The petrol variants of 2012 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 comes between the price range Rs. 2.44 lacs and Rs. 2.99 lacs. On the other hand, the CNG Alto 800 carries a price tag between Rs. 3.19 lacs and RS. 3.56 lacs.
Reportedly, the Malappuram based Maruti Suzuki dealer revealed that all of its customers who received the keys to their new Alto 800 haven't had a single glimpse of the car and did the bookings solely on the basis of brand's identity.
