      Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Safari DICOR - A Brief Insight to the Ground Basics

      The concept of SUVs is nothing new to the Indian automobile market as there have been a number of these models from several companies. Right from the time Tata Motors launched Sumo, there have been a range of models in this segment. Slowly, the hatchback loving Indian car enthusiasts started taking note of the rising number and popularity of these large vehicles. Right now, a number of SUVs from different manufacturers are battling it out in the market. Among these SUVs, Tata Safari DICOR and Mahindra XUV500 need to be specially mentioned for their high-performance and customer satisfaction.

      Mahindra XUV500 is powered by a 16V mHawk diesel engine, which has a displacement of 2179 cc. This engine makes a healthy power output of 140 bhp at 3750 rpm and generates 330 Nm of torque at 1600 to 2800 rpm. Direct injection fuel supply system has been employed to this model to make things smoother for the engine. Power is transmitted to the wheels using a six-speed manual gearbox. Just like most other SUVs of the modern generation, this car has also gets a FWD variant. The XUV500 has a claimed max speed of 175Km/h with a 0 to 100 acceleration timing of 12.5 seconds. It has a fuel capacity of 70 litres. It has a fuel efficiency of 12kmpl in city conditions while the same goes up to 15.1kmpl on highways. Prices of the XUV500 reach Rs. 14.5 lakhs (Ex-Showroom)

      On the other hand, Tata Safari DICOR has been provided with a 2179 cc, 16V DICOR engine, which makes 138.1 bhp of power at 4000 rpm. The torque generated by the SUV is 320 Nm at 1700 to 2000 rpm. It makes uses of the same common rail diesel fuel injection system. The engine is paired with a standard five-speed manual transmission system. The Safari DICOR too is available in 4x4 and 4x2 trims. It has a claimed maximum speed of 160km/h with a 0 to 100 acceleration timing of 15.8 seconds. The fuel tank capacity for this one is lesser at 65 litres. It has a mileage of 8.32 kmpl on city roads while the same is 11.57kmpl on highways. A fully loaded Safari DICOR can be availed at Rs. 10.2 lakhs (Ex-Showroom)
