Mahindra XUV 500 is now available in new colour options which are being offered across its range. The basic model in XUV 500 line-up, W4 is now available in three colour options including a new colour, Dolphin Grey apart from black and white. XUV 500 W6 which is the mid-level variant, gets two new colours, Dolphin Grey and Satin White. Top-of-the line trim of XUV 500, W8 also gets two new colour options- Opulent Purple and ArticBlue.

No changes have been made on the mechanical front, the popular SUV from Mahindra continues to be powered by a mighty 2.2 litre mHawak engine that engenders a maximum power output of 140 Bhp at 3750 Rpm along with atop torque of 330 Nm at 1600-2800 Rpm.

Mahindra XUV 500 is currently available in manual transmission only, however rumours suggest that the company is developing an automatic variant of the SUV which could be launched in India in the second half of 2015. A 6-speed automatic transmission will be sourced from SsangYong. Presently, the only vehicle from Mahindra’s line-up that comes with an AT gearbox is Socrpio SUV. Speculations are also rife that Mahindra’s compact SUV, Quanto could be rolled out in AT version. With the onset of compact SUV segment in India, full grown SUVs have taken a back seat as far as monthly sales are concerned. Compact SUVs offer ample space, are well equipped, return decent fuel economy and most importantly carry an affordable price tag which is why they have gained popularity in such short time span.
