Mahindra KUV100 has been revealed. K stands for Kool. The initial plan was to name it as CUV100, where C also stood for Cool.The KUV100 is a vehicle to be brought by the youth. The numeric 100 represents the pecking order of the series, which suggests that it comes below the TUV300 and the XUV500.The Mahindra KUV100 will be competing with Hyundai Grand i10, Nissan Micra and other hatchbacks in this segment.
Mahindra is targeting the youth with this new product. It will be for young car buyers that want something stylish and appealing design. This crossover has a wide stance, muscular bumpers and sculptured wheel arches and rear to give it a crossover look. The headlamps are wraparounds with DRLs, short overhangs, rear door handles mounted on the side of the rear window.
The Mahindra KUV100 is powered by the mFalcon engines. These are 1.2-litre petrol (mFalcon, G80) and 1.2-litre diesel (mFalcon, D75) engines. These are new engines are built from scratch. Dr Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, M&M Ltd. said, “We are all set to create a new segment with the launch of the new KUV100, which also marks our foray into the ground up petrol engines. KUV100 is all set to carve its niche amongst first time car buyers with its unique propositions. I’m confident that the KUV100, like its predecessor, will become an extremely popular brand and will be cited for taking Mahindra to a whole new orbit.”
The KUV100 will be launched in four variants K2, K4, K6 and K8, while the K2, K4 and K6 will get optional variant with airbags. ABS is a standard feature across all variants. The Mahindra KUV100 will be launched on 15th January and bookings will start from tomorrow. Varun Dhawan will be the brand ambassador for Mahindra KUV100, as what Dr Pawan Goenka hinted at the press conference.
