About Mahindra KUV100

Summary

Mahindra KUV100 has 26 versions available in India from which 13 are petrol and 13 are diesel cars. Mahindra KUV100 comes in 7 colours, namely, Aquamarine, Dazzling silver, Designer Gray, Fiery Orange, Flamboyant Red, Midnight Black, Pearl White.

KUV stands for Kool Utility Vehicle. The KUV100 is Mahindra’s smallest vehicle for the Indian car market that has been built on an all-new platform. This will be a crossover that is the size of a mid-size hatchback, however it has the advantage of higher ground clearance that makes it a good buy for Indian road conditions.

The new KUV100 petrol and diesel both are highly fuel-efficient products. The petrol version will return about 11-13km/l, while the diesel will return about 14-16km/l in city driving. On the highway, it will be higher.

The KUV100 is a compact crossover and has been a simple interior design. The new Mahindra steering wheel with an easy to read instrument cluster. The quality of materials used is good and the controls are easy to use. The KUV100’s basic interiors consists of an in-dash music system with aux, bluetooth and USB connection, a simple three knob system to control the air-con vents, dual airbags and even ABS. Airbags is an optional feature across all the variants. The KUV100 is a five-seater with sufficient space for the two rows and even the boot.

The exterior styling of the KUV100 is compact and it does have a tall stance. The first thing one notices is its high ground clearance that differentiates it from the competition. The thin front grille with pulled back headlamps, the daytime running LEDs meld well with the front styling. The shallow glass in area makes the KUV100 look aggressive.

The engines on the KUV100 are mFalcon G80, which is the 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 82bhp of power and is a three-cylinder engine. The second one is the mFalcon D75, which is also a 1.2-litre diesel engine that churns about 77bhp of power. These engines will offered with a five-speed manual transmission and an AMT is also on offer.

Mahindra KUV100 Expert Review

Today most of the automakers are working towards introducing developing new compact SUVs, which are just under four metres. This is one of the fastest growing segments, and today most of the automakers are working on it. However, Mahindra had different plans. The company did introduce the TUV300, which is a compact SUV but it has even got an SUV under that. This is the KUV100 and this is the smallest Mahindra passenger vehicle ever made. We lay our hands on the smallest Mahindra for a quick spin and tell you how good it is.

The KUV100 might be marketed as an SUV, but it is essentially a pumped up hatchback; one that will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Hyundai Grand i10 and the newly launched Ford Figo. So, it has a monocoque chassis, a transverse mounted engine and front wheel drive. But, because it must be referenced as an SUV, the KUV100 naturally has high ground clearance too; 170mm of it. It isn’t very large though. At 3675mm in length, it is the shortest in its class. And its 2385mm wheelbase is the least as well. But the KUV100 stands tall at 1655mm (with roof rails) making it the tallest. As far as styling goes, the front of this pumped-up hatchback has a sleek front g.... Read More

I am feeling cheated and betrayed by Mahindra. I purchased the Mahindra KUV100 K8 Diesel on 8/4/2016. I am making a terrible mistake by choosing Mahindra KUV100 over the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. I thought that if the company is claiming 25.32 kmpl at least, I will get 20 to 21 kmpl on the highway and 19 to 20 kmpl in city driving conditions. I had completely filled the fuel tank and drive the car highway it is giving very less mileage approx 14 to 15 kmpl and in local it giving only 12-13 kmpl. I complained to Mahindra showroom associate for that, mileage will improve after on service but after service mileage not improved. Regards,
