      Mahindra marks record monthly sales in automotive sector for September 2012 with a growth of 10 per cent

      Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M), the country’s leading Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, has reported its record monthly sales ever with figures standing at 48342 units in September 2012, marking a growth of 10 per cent when compared against 44,137 units sold in year ago month. In first six months of this fiscal, the auto maker sold 267266 vehicles with a growth of 20 per cent under the review of units sold in corresponding period of last year.

      The automobile segment of M&M has registered its highest monthly growth with 48342 units delivered during the period with a growth of 10 per cent against 44,137 units sold in same tenure of last year. In passenger vehicle segment, the company delivered 23,808 units in September 2012, marking an increase of 22 per cent under the review of 19,447 vehicles delivered in September 2011.

      During the period, the domestic sales of M&M stood at 45263 units, reporting a growth of 10 per cent when com compared against 41136 units sold in corresponding period of last year. Sales in four wheeler segment also reported a monthly growth of 7 per cent with figures standing at 14,417 units over 13,419 delivered in corresponding month of 2011. In September this year, the company exported 3079 vehicles with an increase of 3 per cent as it shipped 3001 units in same tenure of last year.

      Expressing his views on this performance, the Chief Executive (Automotive Division) of M&M, Pravin Shah quoted, “We are happy with the performance and growth that we have achieved during September 2012 over the festive season month of September 2011. Post reduction in CRR, banks have started cutting lending rates and are also looking at reducing vehicle loan rates. We are hopeful of a good performance in the upcoming festive season.”
