      Hyundai India ends up with a fall of around 14 per cent in its domestic sales for the month of September 2012

      India’s largest passenger car exporter, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has reported a growth of 3.9 per cent in its exports in the month of September 2012 with figures standing at 22,707 units against 21,849 vehicles shipped in corresponding period of last year. The domestic sales of the car maker stood at 30,851 units during the month, which marked a fall of 14.2 per cent against 35,955 units delivered in year ago period. In a cumulative approach, the second largest passenger car maker of the country reported a fall of 7.3 per cent with delivering 53,558 units in September 2012 against 57,804 units sold in same tenure of last year.

      Expressing his views on sales, the Vice President (National Sales) of HMIL, Rakesh Srivastava quoted, “We expect the suppressed demand would improve on account of festive purchases as the demand peaks during this period. The neo Elantra, a modern premium brand has received an overwhelming customer response making it a top performer in the executive segment.”

      Considering segment wise growth of the South Korean auto maker, in A2 segment, which comprises models like Eon, Santro, i10 and i20, the company delivered 46,414 units, while in A3 segment, featuring models like Accent and Verna, it sold 6,287 units. In A4 segment, which includes Elantra, Hyundai India sold 781 units, whereas in A5 segment (Sonata) and sports utility vehicle segment (Santa Fe), the car maker sold 20 units and 56 units, respectively.
