Mahindra’s compact SUV, KUV 100, will get a minor cosmetic update. This is been done as the car has seen a major fall in sales, due to the current design language.
Many customers complained about the overall styling, which they felt, a bit exaggerated. There are a lot of creases and lines all around the car, which didn’t appeal to many Indian buyers. Based on the feedback, Mahindra will take a much cleaner approach on the front and the rear of the car. The design will be toned down in order to generate more interest from the buyers. The launch of this KUV 100 is expected to take place later this year.
In order to sustain the excitement around the KUV 100, the top-end variant was equipped with 15-inch wheels, instead of 14-inch rims earlier this year. While this did improve the overall stance of the car, it failed to generate the expected sales. Mahindra had sold 5097 units of the KUV 100 in April 2016. The sales were down by almost 50 per cent in April this year, when the company managed to sell 2141 units.
We contacted Mahindra to check on this development. The company, however, refused to comment on any future launches.
