The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 has been spotted testing in the US. The truck will be sold in a double-cab as well as a single-cab version.

The GMC Sierra is also sold as Chevrolet Silverado in some markets. For 2019, GMC will be giving the Sierra 1500 a major overhaul. It gets an aluminum body to shed weight, similar to the Ford F-150. But as for styling, the new Sierra will continue with the boxy looks of the current model. It also retains the running board with an integrated step to get on to the bed.

The GMC Sierra will be unveiled later next year as a 2019 model. Under the hood, the Sierra will get new turbocharged V6 petrol and V6 diesel engines. The eight-speed gearbox will be ditched in favour of a 10-speed unit so far used in the Camaro ZL1. It is also rumoured to get a brake-by-wire system and air suspension, a first for the Sierra. It competes with its counterpart, the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500.
