Mahindra is playing hard with its line-up of two-wheelers. A few days earlier, the company discontinued the Duro and Pantero. In the present news, Kine and Flyte, the electric two-wheeler variants by the company have been discontinued owing to the poor sales performance by these vehicles.

Though the sales of two-wheelers of the company are not that good at the moment but discontinuing four of the models, out of which, one has been able to perform decently in the market, in less than a week is seemingly a way to cut the cost of production. It is evident that Kine has been one of the oldest two-wheelers of Mahindra and it even used to exist when the brand came into existence.

Kine was launched in 2006, the time when the company was owned by Kinetic. It was a tiny 72 cc scooter. On the other hand, Flyte was one of the first vehicles that the company launched under the name of Mahindra. This scooter was supposed to be of high demands due to the styling and 125 cc engine, but soon after its launch, it was observed that the population was not ready for 125 cc engines then. Moreover, the vehicle faced stiff competition from Suzuki Swish, due to which, the sales of Flyte remained low and stagnant.

It has been observed that among the huge line-up of Mahindra’s two-wheelers, only Centuro is being sold in decent quantity. Rest all of the models have failed to earn profits and thus, the sales have been declining steadily ever since. Though the sales couldn’t go up but discontinuing 4 variants in just a week seems to be a harsh step and also shows that the company is going into losses.

Due to the above stated facts, the company needs to rethink its policy towards the two-wheelers. Proper marketing campaign and meeting the demands of the population is what the company should do from now on. A proper ground work might just help them in scoring more sales and turning up their profit margins, and also help in stopping to discontinue their models.
