Jaguar Land Rover India has announced the prices for the new-gen Discovery. The prices of the SUV start at Rs 68.05 lakhs (ex-showroom) with the range-topping First Edition Diesel priced at Rs 1.02 crore.
Powering the new Land Rover Discovery are 3.0-litre engine options. The Si6 petrol variants derive power from a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine producing 335bhp of power and 450Nm of torque. The TdV6 diesel, on the other hand, comes powered by the 3.0-litre six-cylinder motor churning out 254bhp and 600Nm of torque.
This is the next-gen Discovery based on JLR's light full-size SUV architecture and is 480kg lighter than the outgoing model. It is also expected to be more comfortable, faster and more capable than its predecessor. This too boasts of a seven-seater layout.
The Discovery's cabin will pack the brand's InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, a 14-speaker Meridian digital surround system, four 12V charging points etc. The touch screen system can be paired to a smartphone app as a part of the InControl Touch Pro Services. The most interesting feature here is the Intelligent Seat Fold technology. It allows passengers to reconfigure the second- and third-row seats at the touch of a button.
The Land Rover Discovery competes in the luxury SUV segment against the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90. The Discovery was first introduced in 1989 and the latest iteration is the fifth-gen model. It is expected to carry forward the legacy of the brand and Land Rover’s drive to go above and beyond.
