Bajaj may use the upcoming 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo as the platform for launching KTM Duke 200 in India. This probiking model is expected to compete with Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR250R, two of the most popular motorcycles in the country. Speculation is rife that the company place the bike in the price bracket of Rs. 1.1-1.3 lacs while launching it in the domestic market.

KTM is a world renowned Austrian manufacturer of racing cars and bikes, which has won accolades for its prowess at developing high performance vehicles. Its Duke 200 will be successful in churning out maximum power of 25 hp at 10000 rpm and peakl torque of 19 Nm at 8000 rpm. The aluminium engine used in the motorcycle will be complemented by a six speed close-job gearbox.

The model that Bajaj will showcase in the country has already been through a test ride and come out with flying colours due to its superior handling. The bike does exceptionally well at corners due to its light weight and stability. Though it is capable of reaching 140 kmph, the bike will generally be able to clock a top speed of 135 kmph as the rev limiter cuts the fuel supply. In spite of aggressive noise, the bike never vibrates out of control, ensuring that the riding experience remains unparalleled.

The upcoming KTM Duke 200 will make R15 and CBR250R see red when it comes to performance, agility and weight. It seems that the probiking segment of Indian auto industry has a new king in the form of Duke 200.
