      Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and Z1000 launched in India at Rs. 12.5 lakh

      In recent times, Japanese superbike manufacturer, Kawasaki, has been on the offensive with respect to the Indian market. Analysing the demand for superbikes that exists in India, the company is planning to increase its market share by launching new models. Reports regarding the launch of Z1000 had been doing rounds for a long time now. After all the speculation and hype, Kawasaki has finally introduced this performance-oriented bike in India. Earlier in 2013, this globally acclaimed company launched a couple of models, namely Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-14R. Along with Z1000, Kawasaki has also brought in the Ninja 1000 for Indian buyers, thereby strengthening its portfolio. Both these bikes have been introduced at the same price, which is Rs. 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Apart from Pune, Z1000 and Ninja 1000 models are going to be available at the firm's dealership in New Delhi.

      Talking about Z1000 first, this globally acclaimed model has won hearts of bike aficionados from all over the world. Being a stylishly designed motorcycle, experts consider Z1000 to be an ideal model for experienced riders due to its advanced control and handling abilities. It is based on the aggressive 'Sugomi' style philosophy, which gives a predatory appearance. One of the highlights of this bike is the Showa Separate Function featuring a big piston fork, which enables easy adjustabilty and control while riding at high speeds. Braking power of this bike is enhanced by the one-piece monobloc radial mount front brake calipers.

      There are innumerable technologically advanced features in the Kawasaki Z1000, which ensure a superb performance. Optimum timings for individual cylinders are guaranteed due to the presence of dedicated spark plug-mounted ignition coils. The cooling and exhaust systems of Z1000 are highly advanced and increase efficiency levels of the engine. The exhaust system, in particular, featuring a 4-into-2-pre-chamber-into-2 layout and oval shaped connector tubes, helps in delivering a better engine response time. Other highlights of Kawasaki Z1000 are large fuel tank, aluminium backbone frame, rider interface and horizontal back-link rear suspension. The USP this bike, however, remains its DOHC 16-valve engine that has a displacement of 1043 cc. This engine develops maximum output of around 140 bhp and peak torque of 111 Nm.

      The other model, Ninja 1000, is another masterpiece that is stylish, powerful, fast and technologically advanced. Featuring an absolutely aggressive profile, this bike has a Supersport-style full-fairing bodywork that is highly attractive and right up there in terms of aerodynamics as well. LED tail lights with red bulbs transparent lens and slim rear fender enhance the appeal of this bike. Like the Z1000, this bike also comes with an upgraded cool air system, monobloc ABS brakes with petal-type rotors and aluminium backbone frame. The KTRC traction control system allows riding the bike according to different conditions. These modes can be controlled by the switch assembly that present on the left handlebar. Ninja 1000 runs on 1043 cc DOHC 16-valve engine that boasts of new cylinder connecting passageways for reduction of pumping losses and improvement of mid to high RPM performance. In addition, there is a secondary engine balancer for the elimination of excess vibration and improving rider comfort.

      Kawasaki's portfolio in India, with the launch of these models, now has a total of six motorcycles, the other four being Ninja 300, Ninja 650, Ninja ZX-14R and Ninja ZX-10R. Also, the firm is planning on boosting its dealership network in the country for betterment of future operations. The prices of these Z1000 and Ninja 1000 are quite high as they have been brought to India as Completely Built Units (CBUs). Sources claim that the firm would like to change this in the future, which enables it to price products more aggressively and thereby, expand its customer base.
