The first ever Tesla Model X has been privately imported in India ahead of its official launch in the country. Reports indicate that a Mumbai-based company has imported the base Model X P75D variant with a 75kWh battery pack of the SUV in India. The all-electric SUV shares its underpinnings with the Model S.
Tesla's Model X is powered by two electric motors which are mounted on each axle. The base variant generates 259bhp of power which is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds. The P75D has a driving range of 381kms. The international market also gets the higher P100D variant which has a driving range of 474kms on sedate driving and its top speed has been electronically restricted to 250kmph. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 4.7 seconds. The Indian spec Tesla Model X is unlikely to be offered with a self-drive feature.
In terms of features, the Tesla Model X gets LED headlights with cornering lights, air suspension with GPS, large touchscreen infotainment systems and Bluetooth wireless technology. The all-electric SUV is available in five, six and seven-seat configuration options. Moreover, the vehicle constantly receives over-the-air updates and an all-wheel drive system. Slated to be introduced in India via the CBU route, the Model X is expected to be priced well over Rs 1 crore.
