      Hyundai Xcent launched in Nepal price begins at Rs 15.5 lakh

      Hyundai’s compact sedan, Xcent has been launched in Nepal earlier this week by Laxmi InterContinental Pvt. Ltd, the only distributor of Hyundai in Nepal. The compact sedan is has been introduced in three variants in Nepal-Base, S and SX available at a price ranging between NPR 2.49 million to NPR 3.19 million that equals to Rs 15.51 lakh to Rs 19.9 lakh in Indian currency. Hyundai Xcent range available for sale in Nepal comes powered with the 1.2 litre four cylinder petrol engine that is capable of engendering a maximum power output of 83 PS along with a top torque of 11.6 kgm. The petrol engine is claimed to return a decent fuel economy of 19.1 kmpl according to ARAI tests conducted in India. A five-speed manual transmission is mated to the petrol engine.

      The sub-four meter sedan will be exported to Nepal from the company’s manufacturing unit located in Chennai. Underpinning the i10 platform, Xcent was introduced a few months back in India and the vehicle has clocked almost 30,000 unit sales in India. Despite stiff competition in its segment that has options like Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire Xcent managed to grab attention of customers in India. A new entrant in CS segment, Tata Zest has recently been added to the segment. In wake of enhancing its market share in India, Hyundai India is contemplating launch of a new compact SUV and a compact MPV in India by 2016. A new sedan based on new Elite i20 could also be inducted in India in upcoming months.
