Hyundai Motor India Limited, one of the three large automakers of India, has made a growth of 18.9 percent in domestic sales last month compared to the same month last year. The company was facing tough competition in Indian market but still has kept up its growth.

Including exports, Hyundai Motor India Limited sold 47,266 units in June 2009 and in June 2010 it sold 46,254 units. However, when coming to domestic market the units sold in June 2009 were 23,016 and in June 2010 the number was 27,366, which means a gain of 18.9%. The exports however have fallen drastically by 22.1 percent compared to last year.

Hyundai Motors India Limited Sales and Marketing director Arvind Saxena said that Hyundai is booming in the domestic market and the fall in the export market is due to a slowdown in the demand for new cars in the European market. The company believes that it will take time for export market to recover so it has shifted its focus to the Indian market.

The company has also indicated that it will launch at least three new models every year.
