South Korean auto maker Hyundai has big plans for the Indian automotive market, being in domestic market for close to two decades, Hyundai is now thinking to step out of its comfort zone and enter into the premium segment in India. For all these years the auto maker has been keen on the mass segment but now it seems Hyundai India is contemplating to shift focus to the premium segment with a couple of vehicles.
Buzz has it that Hyundai is considering bringing a premium hatchback in domestic market that will be slotted above i20 and could be priced under Rs 10lakh. Rumours are doing the rounds that the new hatchback being contemplated for India could be i30 hatchback, though Hyundai has not given any confirmation on it yet but they have confirmed that they are mulling a premium hatchback for India.
The new premium hatchback which is yet in inception stage could come equipped with 1.2 litre Kappa petrol and 1.1 U2CRDiengine. Hyundai could offer the premium hatchback in both manual and automatic transmission.
Yet another vehicle that could join the Hyundai India clan is ix25 SUV which is set to be launched in China in October. Before its official launch in China the company could showcase the production version at the upcoming Chengdu International Auto Show slated to be held in September. With a length of over four meters the SUV fits the criteria of being a part of premium segment. Hyundai has bestowed the newFluidicsculpture 2.0 design philosophy on the new ix25 SUV. China will get only the petrol version of ix25, however if Hyundai brings the SUV in India, it could be offered in diesel engine option too.
