With the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo just a little over two weeks away, the list of debuts keeps getting more exciting with each passing day. The latest one to add its name to the aforementioned list is the Hyundai Grand i10 compact sedan. Though reports on the interweb may have led people to believe that Hyundai was still busy getting ready considering the fact that its models were caught testing in the country with the Auto Expo just around the corner. However, word has it that the Grand i10 sedan will officially break at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
Along-with the Korean manufacturer 's first sub-4 metre car, the new Santa Fe and the i20 based WRC car will also be seen making an appearance at the Expo. Hyundai has been present in almost every mass segment in India's market except the fiercely competitive entry sedan segment, that seems to be growing quite promptly. Thus, upon its launch, the Grand i10 sedan will be seen giving competition to Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze in this segment.
From what we have gathered, the sedan is expected to be offered with a choice of both, petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-litre petrol and 1.1-litre CRDi diesel mills will also hopefully be seen powering the sedan, but it yet remains to be seen if Hyundai will tune the diesel mill to deliver a better output than the current 71 PS. While the five-speed manual transmission is standard, the Grand i10 sedan might also come fitted with a four-speed automatic gearbox.
