Nissan's sister brand is going all out to return with a bang, and the latest endeavour is the i2 concept, the sketches were recently released. All set to make its world premier at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the concept car represents a possible direction for the future expansion of Datsun’s model line-up for up-and-coming young customers in high-growth markets, such as India. Though the company has not disclosed much details about the car, including the name and the positioning of the concept, its executives had previously claimed that their next car would foray in the Maruti Alto segment or the ‘A-Entry’ segment to be precise.

However, the sketch suggests that the concept will an entry level premium hatchback, which will be pitted against car's like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai i20. However, since it is Nissan's low cost brand, once the production version hits the market, expect Datsun to price it much cheaper than its competitors.

Delving deeper into the information gathered from the sketch, the concept's front fascia looks quite similar to the Datsun Go hatchback, and GO+ MPV, except it has much sportier headlights. The prominent creases, along with the sporty wheel arches and rear spoiler only add to its 'sporty' quotient.

So all in all, the new i2 concept will be unveiled at Datsun’s press conference on February 5th at the Auto Expo, to be followed by the five-door front-wheel drive GO hatchback, and the seven-seater GO+ MUV.
