      Honda India eyes expanding dealership network by 35 per cent by end of FY14-15

      Honda India recently announced that it eyes expanding its dealership network by 35 per cent by the end of this fiscal. Currently, Honda has 195 outlets scattered in 127 cities, by the end of this financial year, HCIL plans to add 35 new outlets in 23 new cities taking its dealership network to 230 outlets in 150 cities across India.

      In the first two quarters of current financial year Honda Cars India Limited posted robust by selling a total of 88,200 units in this time span registering 48 per cent of growth on the back of its new Honda City, compact sedan Amaze and newly inducted Mobilio MPV. Based on the sales data it has been observed that 27 per cent of the company’s sales are driven from North region of the country, similar pattern is seen in current financial year too.

      Due to large difference in cost of petrol and diesel, customer in India of late had an affinity towards diesel powered vehicles. However, HCIL believes that customers are again getting back to petrol engine cars as a result of shrinking difference between the cost of petrol and diesel. But sales data still reflects that diesel variants of Honda’s top selling vehicles, new City, Amaze and Mobilio are more in demand than the petrol variants.
