Two members of the jury panel, Sandy Myhre and Henny Hemmes did the honours and presented the title to Toshiaki Konaka on the Honda pavilion at the globally renowned auto show. Konaka is the Director of the European Car Division of the Honda Motor Company.

Reportedly, the 'Women's World Car of the Year' title is awarded in mainly four categories - Luxury Car, Sports Car, Family Car and Economy Car. The jury panel included 20 women heads of top auto industry players hailing from some 11 countries across the globe.

Interestingly, the Civic sedan was adjudged as the winner for the 'Economy Car' title, besides the second and third spots were claimed by Volkswagen's UP and Ford Fiesta, respectively. The 'Economy Car' category had some 300 nominations from all over the world, of which Honda Civic received the first place.

Speaking on the coveted title awarded to the Honda Civic saloon, Toshiaki Konaka said, “This award highlights the unique exterior styling and practical interior that are synonymous with the Civic model and meet the needs and desires of customers within the C segment in Europe.”
