Honda, a few years ago, was a brand known for producing top class vehicles, which were purchased only by the buyers of high-end societies. Although Honda managed to make a huge impact on the Indian car market, it could not attract mass buyers, thereby being unable to establish any sort of stronghold. However, the company went into extensive research and analysis in context of India, thereby coming up with really good solutions. With the launch of Amaze compact sedan, Honda managed to generate a tremendous response from middle class buyers. The Japanese auto maker is hoping to continue this momentum by introducing more vehicles that are meant for masses.

The upcoming Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) is going to be based on the Brio platform, which has received a lot of acclaim across the globe. Honda, recently, released a few sketches of the Brio-based MPV in Indonesia, which created a lot of hype among car enthusiasts. Recent trends have shown that the car maker has always preferred to launch a new model in Indonesia before planning its introduction in India. Continuing this trend, Honda will launch the Brio-based MPV in Indonesia by 2013 and in India by 2014. Honda's policy of preferring Indonesia is based on its similarity with the Indian car market in terms of growth potential and rising demand. Globally, the Honda Brio MPV is going to compete with the likes of Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia.

Experts from the industry feel that Honda's Brio-based MPV might end up being a game changer in its segment. In recent times, the demand for compact utility vehicles has risen in India, which has led to a number of firms entering the segment. French car maker Renault introduced the Duster compact SUV in India and received a great response from buyers and critics. Seeing the success of Duster, Ford launched the EcoSport, which performed beyond expectations.

Honda has always been known for producing vehicles that render a fantastic performance along with having superb features in terms of styling and technology. Since the Brio MPV is going to come with a diesel variant, Honda might be able to keep its price low. By adopting a pricing strategy similar to that of the Honda Amaze, the Japanese car maker likely to make a huge impact among buyers. When launched in India, the Brio MPV will compete with the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Quanto.
