Hindustan Motors (HM), one of the India's premier auto makers, seems set to come out of seclusion with the launch of new variants of its eternal and most famous car – the Ambassador. The iconic model from HM’s stable has served many generations as a symbol for Indian pride but has eventually failed to impact the market much since 1990s when it boasted of around seventy per cent market share.

The company plans to rejuvenate its existing sales and maintenance network with the establishment of new storage facilities. The slack of Ambassador has not done fairly well for the Kolkata-based car maker and thus, it is currently employing its efforts towards making the diesel engine model comply with Bharat Stage IV (BS4) emission norms, a move that would open the market of Ambassador diesel variant in the metropolitans.

HM is also involved with the marketing of Mitsubishi vehicles in India and is slated to initiate the local assembling of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in the country. Presently Pajero Sports is imported into India by Mitsubishi as a Completely Build Unit (CBU) and the method of routing the models via Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units is expected to start from September 2012. The move will ensure curtailment in the prices of Pajero Sport.

Reportedly, the revision is stemming from the HM's impulsive bid towards recouping lost revenues and improving its sales figures. Currently, the company is facing a lot of criticism for its failure in ensuring prompt deliveries. With genuine reconsideration in its production and marketing patterns, HM aspires to cut-down its problems due to functional incompetence.
