With a slew of launches and unveilings lined up for the 2014 Auto Expo, there is no denying that the 12th edition of the Delhi Motor Show is going to be one of the most exciting ones ever held till date. And the latest reports claim that the Ford Motor Company will also reveal its new global concept vehicle. From what we know, the concept is based on a global design philosophy that was especially created to cater to the growing demand for small cars in the Indian market along with other emerging markets.
The concept car will play the role of a preview of the car that Ford will pin its hopes on for their share in the Asia Pacific market, the region which will account for about a third of the company's global sales volume by mid-decade. A statement issued by the company read, "The concept (car) will showcase Ford's vision for the future in the competitive compact-car segment in India and other dynamic emerging markets." The statement, however, failed to reveal more about the innovative features that will be included in the vehicle.
The smallest car in Ford's current line-up for the Indian market is the Figo hatchback. Interestingly, Ford also stated that the compact car segment contributed almost a third to its total sales in 2013 in India. But the company has not yet clarified whether the potential new vehicle will replace the Figo or will be an additional new product.
