US based leading car maker Ford has said that it sees India as a key small-car and small engine hub. After the success of Figo, the car maker is now mulling-over the option of rolling-out a number of cars in the compact car segment, in coming months. The company will be adding as many as 8 new car models in its Indian portfolio by year 2015.
Small compact car Ford Figo, which was launched in the Indian market in April 2010, has turned around the fortunes of the company in the Indian market. The car maker has sold over 1,00,000 units of the car, so far. The Figo model has been competing efficiently with the likes of Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo and Nissan Micra.
Ford has recently shifted its headquarters from Chennai to Gurgaon to strengthen its presence in the NCR region that contributes over 20 percent of the total car sales in the country.
