Ford, the American automaker, will launch three new cars in the Indian car market this year. The company will introduce the Figo compact sedan, new Figo and new Endeavour SUV. Of all the cars that the company is planning to launch, the Figo-twins will be the first ones.Both Ford Figo hatchback and sedan have been spotted several times during their test rounds on Indian roads. Interestingly, Ford India is also testing the full-sized Figo sedan on Indian roads alongside the Figo compact sedan and hatchback. However, it is quite early to comment whether the full-sized Figo sedan will make its way to our market or not.
Already on sales in some international markets, the Figo and Figo sedan are expected to be launched in the second half of 2015. While the Figo sedan had already made its Indian debut as a concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the new-gen Figo is yet to be revealed. The Figo sedan will rival against the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire facelift, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest.
The Figo sedan is likely to be made available with two engine options - a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol motor is the same that also powers the current model, while the 1.5-litre oil burner does duty on the EcoSport and Fiesta sedan. However, it will be detuned for better fuel efficiency. We expect the Figo sedan diesel to return a mileage of around 25kmpl.
