      Following the upward trend in market, Hyundai too reports 7.6 per cent surge in domestic sales

      India's second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), which also happens to be the largest car exporter in the country, has reported a growth of 6.4 per cent in its aggregate sales. The aggregate sales of the car maker stood at 52,845 units in the month of July, 2012, which is a significant increment over 49,666 cars sold in same month of last year. The sales figures in the domestic market were recorded to be 27,585 units, a 7.6 per cent surge over 25,642 units sold in the corresponding month of 2011. The exports have also moved ahead to 25,260 units in July 2012 from 24,024 vehicles shipped in July 2011.

      Commenting on the upward trend in sales, Vice President, National Sales, HMIL, Rakesh Srivastava, said, “The overall market demand is suppressed due to general inflationary trend, high fuel prices and interest rates. Unless any major triggers get activated, market sentiment is not expected to improve very much.”

      The cumulative sales of the car maker across various segment in July 2012 stood at 44,274 units in A2 segment comprising of Eon, Santro, i10 & i20, and 8,454 units in A3 segment comprising Accent & Verna. At the same time, the car maker sold 32 units in A5 segment comprising of Sonata & 85 units of Sports Utility vehicles like Santa Fe.
