      First locally assembled BMW 3 Series GT rolled out

      BMW that launched the 3 Series GT at the recently concluded 2014 Indian Auto Expo, has rolled out the first locally made car from its manufacturing plant at Mahindra World City in Singaperumal Koil, Chennai. The locally developed 3 Series GT has been priced at Rs. 42.75 lakh, while the deliveries of the vehicle have started.

      The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo has a coupe like roofline and a flowing roofline with large boot. The wheelbase of the saloon is 110mm longer than the standard model, while the overall length has been increased by 200mm. Moreover, the 3 Series GT is also 81mm higher than its sedan sibling. It comes equipped with larger headlamps, an aggressive grille and rear spoiler that automatically expand when the car accelerates to 110kmph and back down at speeds below 70kmph.

      Under the hood, the 3 Series GT gets the 2.0-litre 6-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power output of 184bhp and 380Nm of top torque. Power is transmitted to rear wheels via an eight-speed auto gearbox sourced from ZF.
