      Fiat to Launch 500 in India

      Fiat is all set to make a come back in India with its new models lined up for launch. It shall launch its models 500 and Bravo this month which shall lay the grounds for its model Linea slated for a launch in September. Fiat is aggressively trying to market its brand image in India with the launch of its two-door lifestyle car, Fiat 500. The new model shall be launched as a joint venture between Italy's Fiat SpA and India's Tata Motors. It is a non-retro concept car originally launched as Nuova 500 in Italy in late 1950s. the car is based on Fiat's Panda platform and has sold 3.9 million units in 18 years.

      The car is expected to be priced around Rs. 15 lakh which shall be targeted towards celebrities, youth and auto enthusiasts. It shall be imported as a Completely Built Unit in India which has pushed its price towards the higher end but the model shall serve as an image make over for the company.

      On the other hand, Linea shall be launched in September 2008 which would a mid-sized sedan which shall constitute 70% local content. Grand Punto shall follow the launch of Linea and shall be mark its debut in December this year.
