      Fiat to Export Right Hand Drive Cars

      Fiat India is planning to export cars to right hand drive markets in Asia-Oceania region. According to CEO of TATA-Fiat Joint, Rajeev Kapoor, the company also plans to introduce latest car models in India as well.

      "There are several important markets like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and UK. Some of these can be serviced from our Indian production base," says Kapoor. Fiat is currently working on its global brands like Fiat 500, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Maserati, etc. However, Kapoor was non-committal on the fact whether India could become manufacturing hub for right hand drive cars for worldwide exports. Fiat has currently taken up brand building exercise in India with its Fiat 500 in the country.

      Fiat India shall also launch Grand Punto at the end of current year and Fiat Linea at the end of next year. Fiat Linea is much awaited India bound C-segment car that has been already launched in Turkey. The new Fiat Linea has scope of 60 percent localisation. It shall be manufactured at Fiat India's plant at Ranjangaon. Grand Punto shall also be manufactured and launched in India in 2008 and may be exported to nearby RHD countries in South East Asia.
