There is no limit to the imagination of a person when he or she is given the bandwidth to innovate. And when it comes to cars, this saying is absolutely true as designing firms do not just conceptualise vehicles to travel in, they create a dream world for customers. However, one thing that can not be ignored is the fact that automobile manufacturing is a profit making business, something that is highly important for the sustenance and longevity. Thereby, companies do design vehicles that are unfathomable for a normal person but do not launch them till a proper market study is done.

This phenomenon, usually, is known as the introduction of a concept car, which takes place quite regularly. Companies use automobile exhibitions as platforms to showcase their concept cars to a large audience, which comprises critics and customers. Over the years, iconic companies like Mazda, Cadillac, Lamborghini, Renault and Ferrari have introduced a number of concept vehicles. While some concept vehicles, upon contemplation, were launched for sale, there are several masterpieces that have not been introduced.

Japanese auto makers have always been known to be ahead of their contemporaries when it comes to technology and class. Mazda, a Japanese car maker, is famous for building superior quality vehicles, which are powerful, classy and stylish. However, a lot of people said that Mazda reached the pinnacle of styling when it unveiled the Furai concept car at the 2008 North American International Auto Show, which was held in the city of Detroit. The name of this car, meaning 'sound of the wind' was considered to be justified as enthusiasts and critics were just awestruck by the sheer class Furai concept exuded.

Sharp headlight configuration, spectacular engine canopy treatment and ribcage side vents were the highlights of the Furai concept from Mazda. Industry experts said that this car personified what vehicles would look like in the future. According to reports, the Mazda Furai concept was powered by a 20B 3-rotor wankel engine and was capable of generating a power of around 400 bhp.

Lamborghini, the Volkswagen Group owned sports car brand, is famous for producing some of the fastest cars on the planet. Its portfolio includes models like Gallardo, Aventador, Reventon and Veneno, which have received acclaim throughout the globe. The Italian automobile giant manufactures cars that are bought by the crème de la crème of society including movie stars, sports persons, musicians and top businessmen. Continuing its tradition of designing stunning vehicles, Lamborghini unveiled the Estoque concept at a show in Geneva in 2008.

This model, virtually, left everyone awestruck through its superb design and futuristic appearance. Estoque, due to some reasons, was not be able to get converted into a production model, something that fans and enthusiasts have always lamented. Recently, there were reports that Lamborghini was going to bring this model into the market, something that has remained a rumour only.

Think of dream machines and the name Ferrari pops up instantly in anyone's mind. The legendary Italian auto maker has always set benchmarks in the sports car segment. One of the most renowned concept cars showcased by Ferrari that has not got produced is the P4/5 by Pinnafarina, which earned a lot of plaudits from enthusiasts throughout the globe. Ford, the American automobile giant, showcased one of its masterpieces, called the Interceptor, at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. It came with some unique features like four-point seat belts, fully leather-lined interior, cool roof-mounted headrests and a long profile. According to sources, this car was powered by a 5.0-litre engine, which is capable of producing around 400 bhp of output.

Other than these amazing mean machines, there have been some more superb concept cars that have never entered the market.
