      Tata Nano Diesel

      Tata Motors is planning to introduce the diesel variant of Nano in India that is expected to hit the car markets by early 2014. According to sources, the Indian home grown major is developing a low-specification 700 cc engine that will generate power that equals to 33 bhp alongside the peak torque of 51 Nm. The engine will be paired with a 4-speed manual transmission that will further transfer power to its rear wheels.

      Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha

      The leading car company of India, Maruti Suzuki is reported to be adding another car to its portfolio and this time it will be a compact SUV. The company is believed to be working on developing a car that is based on the XA Alpha concept. Company insiders are insisting that Maruti Suzuki might give away the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol unit and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine in its upcoming compact SUV. As far as the pricing goes, the company will be aiming to offer its vehicle in a range of Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh. At present, the company has not announced the details regarding the specifications and expected launch date of its compact SUV and thus, all the information is speculative.

      Honda City Diesel

      Japan based car maker, Honda will be launching the diesel version of City in 2014 as company officials have confirmed the same. However, the company has not given any information about the specifications of the vehicle but it is presumed that the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine of Amaze might make way in City but in differently tuned options. The expected price of Honda City diesel might be around Rs. 9 lakh for the base variant and will be offering competition to Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. The rivals of Honda City would be worrying a lot owing to this development.

      Mercedes-Benz S-Class

      Iconic German car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz is all set to bring its next-generation S-Class model in India by early 2014. The model has already made its headway start in major European markets and will replace the current-generation model in the Indian auto market. The expected price tag of the car might be around Rs. 90 lakh to Rs. 1.10 crore. The car looks completely distinct from its predecessor with chiselled body lines and low slung roof. The front has been largely based up on the Modular Front Architecture (MFA), which has been actively followed by the company on its new models.
