Heading the bandwagon, Ford, the American auto maker, is ranked 8th in the Indian auto market and has a market share of 2.95 per cent, during the period. However, in order to change the game, the car maker is planning to play bullish on its yet-to-be launched Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) EcoSport, which is anticipated to initiate a story of success for the American auto maker. EcoSport is expected to hit the Indian roads somewhere in January 2013.

The German auto giant, Volkswagen (VW) Group, including its completely owned brands like Audi and Skoda, is still kept at bay from almost two-thirds of the total market-the sub- 5 lac space. To make the scenario favourable, the No. 1 auto maker of Europe has framed high hopes on its upcoming small car UP in the Indian market, which is anticipated to sparkle at the shores in a year.

On the other hand, the French car maker Renault which performed not-so-impressive in the market since 2005, wherein it was operating through a Joint Venture with domestic manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra, has now come up its class-leading SUV Duster to pull itself in limelight. In the first two months of this fiscal, Renault was present in the market with a market share of 0.24 per cent and was ranked 13th during the period.

Considering its earlier partner in JV, Mahindra and Mahindra registered a market share of 10.37 per cent during the period and was positioned 3rd. The car maker is currently busy in working on its Sub-4 metre Verito, which is anticipated to launch somewhere in second half of fiscal 2013.
