The Indian arm of Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW), the globally renowned German automobile marque, has launched a facelifted version of its flagship X6 Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) in the domestic market on November 22, 2012. The company claims its 2013 X6 luxury crossover to be the world's first ever SAC, which is the most futuristic combination of a luxury saloon and a premium Sports Utility vehicle (SUV). At present, the BMW X6 competes against the likes of Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and Land Rover Range Rover in the Indian imported luxury utility vehicle market.
The BMW X6 certainly seems like a more macho SUV as compared to Porsche Cayenne, with its aggressive stance and impressive power bulges on each side. The Porsche Cayenne looks more stylish and has better interior comfort and feel. Both products are of top built and caters to the high heeled Indian car aficionados.
The German auto maker has introduced the facelifted BMW X6 in both diesel – xDrive 40d and petrol – xDrive 50i guises in the country. The mammoth of a V8 4.4 litre powerplant under the hood of X6 xDriver50i petrol model and an inline 6 cylinder diesel motor in the X6 xDrive40d churn out astonishing power outputs of 402 bhp and 301 bhp, respectively. The engine assemblies in both petrol and diesel X6 variants come fitted with a standard 8 speed sports transmission system, along with paddle shifts on the steering wheel. Further, a intelligent All Wheel Drive (AWD) system - xDrive and Dynamic Performance Control (DPC) system also come as standard feature in both X6 diesel and petrol models.
On the other hand, the premium luxury crossover Porsche Cayenne S comes fitted with an eight cylinder, 4806 cc, petrol power-mill that churns out a 400 bhp of maximum power and torque equation of 400 bhp at 6500 rpm and 500 Nm, respectively. The drivetrain is mated to an cutting edge automatic transmission system. The vehicle can hit a top speed of 258 kmph and can zoom to 100 kmph from a standstill in a meagre 5.9 seconds. Both BMW X6 and Porsche Cayenne are marketed available via Completely Built Unit (CBU) in the country, which further contributes to its colossal price.
