2014 turned out to be an interesting tale of events for both Fiat and Toyota in launching their crossovers. They started competing with each other too. While the Toyota Etios Crossover and Fiat Avventura may look the same in terms of ruggedness, there is lot more to know about these cars. Let’s take a look how they both square off against each other.
Exteriors
Fiat “Avventura”, the Italian name for adventure, is the longest vehicle when it comes to dimensions with an overall length of 3989 mm. With The Etios Cross measuring 3895 mm in length, it beats the Avventura in the width department by a margin of 47 mm, measuring 1753 mm. Apart from the rugged design of both of them, Avventura clearly stands out as it is the only vehicle sporting a rear mounted spare wheel.
Engine and specifications
When comparing the engines of their diesel variants, the Fiat Avventura leads with its 1.3-liter engine churning out a power of 93 PS. The Toyota, however, having a 1.4-liter engine could only produce 68 PS and a low torque of 170 Nm. However, this detuned nature of the Etios helped it scoring brownie points over the Avventura in efficiency and mileage department. Toyota Etios returns a mileage of 23.59 kmpl whereas the Avventura could only run 20.5 km in a single liter of fuel.
Safety
The Avventura trumps over the Etios Crossover when it comes to safety with its dual stage airbags, along with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) on its higher variants and the Fire Protection System. On the other hand, Etios with airbags and ABS do not come with a Fire Protection System.
Price
There does not seem to be much difference in the base model of these two cars but the diesel variant of the Avventura stretches all the way up to Rs. 8.17 lakhs whereas Etios crossover stops at Rs. 7.43 lakhs for its top model.
