Bajaj is gearing up for back-to-back launches in the upcoming year. Among these new models, there are speculations that one will be an upgraded Platina, which is expected to be launched somewhere around early 2015. The Platina segment of motorcycles were somewhat overshadowed by the Pulsar and Discover ranges of motorcycles. Bajaj will hope that the series of Platina will be revived with this new-generation model in 2015.

Apart from the Platina, the popular manufacturer will also release a couple of models from its renowned Pulsar and Discover ranges, as well. However, the focus will be on the new Platina. It is expected that it will be around 100-125 cc bike and will be mainly targeted to boost the market share of the company.

There was a statement by Rajiv Bajaj, recently, in which he said, “We have two significant launches in the Pulsar and Platina segment. Together, they will yield two per cent market share. In the first half of this year, we had a significant launch of Discover (150cc). We will (now) implement it downwards in 100-125cc. This will bring us to 25-26 per cent market share in the first half of next year. Then, in the second half, I would like to go to 30 per cent, for which we have to do something remarkable. It is a marketing move, not some great technology change. There is an opportunity to create something big."

Interestingly, the Platina has done significantly well when compared with other similar models. Despite the fact that other bikes of Bajaj faced a 12 per cent drop in domestic sales, Platina managed to score high with a 15 per cent hike in the first half of the year. A renewed version of this model will only add to its popularity, thus building up the market share.
