The French car maker Renault India is rapidly expanding its India operations with launching a series of new cars in the Indian market in the coming months. The firm is gearing-up to expand its production capacity at its Joint venture plant in Chennai, along with strengthening its dealership network in the Indian auto market. The company launched its first mass segment vehicles Pulse on Friday.

While speaking to the reporters at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012 on Friday, Renault India Managing Director Marc Nassif, "India is a priority market for us. We are going ahead with our plans to launch five new products for the Indian market between the middle of 2011 and December this year. Pulse is our third product for the Indian market. Duster will come before Diwali. However, by the end of the current year, we will have five products across segments in India."

He added that "Pulse, a diesel variant, is expected to raise the bar for the premium segment compact cars with its vast array of features, focus on safety and performance which is both powerful and fuel efficient."

The company marked its reentry in the Indian market in June last year with the launch of premium sedan Fluence, which was followed by Koleos compact sports utility vehicle. The company plans to have five vehicle models in its India portfolio by the end of this year.
