German automaker Audi has been one of the most preferred choice among new luxury car-buyers in India. The carmaker has announced its plan to launch the Q2 compact crossover before the Q1 model. The Q2 compact crossover is being offered as the smallest model in the Q range and is likely to be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi's head of R&D confirmed to sources that the Q2 shall be launched before the Q1. As per sources, the Q2 is expected to be powered by three- and four-cylinder versions that have been serving the petrol (EA211) and diesel (EA288) engines. The Q1 on the other hand is expected to be offered with a 1.6-Litre diesel engine for the international market, whereas the Indian market may get a smaller 1.5-Litre engine. Sources have also indicated on the possibility of a 1.2-Litre turbo petrol engine also being offered.
The Q1 likely to be lesser that 4-Meter long and having downsized engines in petrol and diesel, it could likely attract 12% excise savings on the same. This would mean that the vehicle could be offered at a lower price tag and further strengthen brand's presence in the country.
