Audi to launch an EV every year starting 2018

Audi revealed its intention to electrify the entire line-up of cars at the recent annual general meeting that was held at Ingolstadt in Germany. Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler said, "Starting in 2018, we will launch another electrified car each year.”

It is quite possible that the decision came out at a time when the car maker needs a desperate initiative to revive from the current diesel emissions concern. Sources have already revealed that a CUV (electric crossover utility vehicle) has been in the works, and is based on the E-Tron Quattro concept which viewers got to witness at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Audi has even shared that their plant in Brussels should be building this new EV that is claimed to have a range of 499km (310 miles).

Currently, most car makers are developing EVs that will eventually compete with Tesla’s success. And it will only be a matter of time when we may get to see the likes of an electric A4 or A7 to compete with the Tesla Model 3 or S!
