Audi Sport has revealed their new RS3 LMS race car at the 2016 Paris Motor Show right after the brand showcased the new RS3 saloon. The model with the racing sequential gearbox is priced at USD 144,600 (Rs 96.24 lakh), and the conventional manual costs USD 111,000 (Rs 73.87 lakh).

The RS3 LMS has been built to cater to the TCR international racing series that happens around the world. This model has large flared fenders which attempt to hide the wider track of 195cm which is laid down by the TCR’s regulations. Also visible on the RS3 LMS is a big front splitter, the huge rear wing, and a series of safety additions like a fuel cell, roll-cage, PS3 seat, and a rescue hatch in the roof. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine (mandated by TCR rules) that has an output of 330bhp. Thanks to superior engineering and a low weight of just 1285kg, this car hits 100kmph in 4.5sec before attaining a top speed of 240kmph.

Audi Sport managing director Stephan Winkelmann, said “Audi has been active in motorsport on the highest level for generations. With the Audi R8 LMS, Audi Sport customer racing managed to build a successful customer sport program alongside the factory commitments in the WEC and DTM, in a very short period of time. The Audi R8 LMS has since become the market leader in its segment. We have the same plans for the Audi RS3 LMS, which offers customers an attractive opportunity to get started in Audi racing.”

Audi Sport expects to start deliveries of the RS3 LMS race car by the end of 2016, before the TCR 2017 races begin.
