Audi has revealed that some units of the current generation Q7 are being recalled in the USA due to concerns with the airbag inflation.

Audi introduced the 2017 Q7 for the US market earlier this year, and added that the affected cars came off the production line between August 30, 2015 and May 8, 2016. A software glitch with the airbag control module causes the front airbags to inflate with more than usual force in certain conditions, and could injure the occupant. A total of 14,535 examples of the 2017 Q7 have been flagged by Audi to have the problem.

Though the car maker is yet to announce the scheduled dates for the recall, it has instructed dealers to install a new airbag control module software that now incorporates changes to the triggering algorithm. There have been no injuries reported as of now.

Despite the fact that Audi sells the Q7 in India, there has been no press release on this concern so far. Stay tuned for more information on this in the days to come.
