Top three German car-makers namely – Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz have always been in a cut throat competition situation. Last month sales report has indicated that Audi and Mercedes Benz have achieved better sales as compared to BMW for the month of January. The top spot has been claimed by Audi who has witnessed a 10% rise with 137,700 units being sold. Mercedes Benz has claimed the second spot due to 14% gain noted with 125,865 units being sold in January. The BMW though witnessed a rise in sales of 6.3%, it was indeed insufficient as compared to the other two, this has resulted in the brand falling down to the third position.
Speaking more on the occasion, Juergen Pieper, analyst with Bankhaus Metzler said, “This looks like a pretty significant decline in growth compared to Mercedes and Audi. I think this will continue during the next few months.” Sounding positive for the year ahead Ian Robertson, BMW’s sales chief said, “There are a number of very exciting model launches coming up this year. We are aiming for further growth in 2015, despite still-challenging economic conditions in some markets.”
