The Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi is all set to unveil the new-generation Pajero Sport tomorrow (August 1, 2015) at the Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale. Promoted as “Designed for Perfection”, the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be brought to India as CKD (completely knocked down) kit, and then assembled at HMFL’s Tiruvallur-based plant.

The new-gen Pajero Sport will be powered with an all-new 2.4-litre MIVEC diesel engine that also does duty to the new Triton/ L200 pickup. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission that helps the car produce a maximum power of 181PS and 430Nm of torque. The standard 2WD (two-wheel drive), and optional Super Select 4WD drive system will continue to be on offer. The latter one will feature a low-range gearbox and differential lock.

Mitsubishi claims that new-gen Pajero Sport will be stronger and safer than the existing model, since it’s designed on the Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution safety body construction system. Based on the ladder-frame platform, it will feature ‘Dynamic Shield’ design with the GR-HEV-inspired X-shaped grille, 17-inch alloy wheel, L-shaped LED daytime running lights, sharp rear windows design and vertically-stacked taillight cluster with LED elements. It might also get an 8-way adjustable driver seat and steering mounted controls.

The new-generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will take on the upcoming new-gen Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
