Ford Fusion Energi...

Ford Fusion Energi is the American automaker's latest product in the plug-in hybrid segment. The Fusion Energi comes with a significantly higher price tag than the standard Fusion hybrid, since it promises to return more power fan fuel efficiency. Just so you know, Ford Fusion Energi's price starts from $34,800.

Talking about this plug-in hybrid car’s styling, it looks identical to the Ford Fusion sedan. It features a bold hexagonal grille, a coupe-like roofline, new wheels and a charging point that positioned rearward of the left-front wheel.

The Energi features a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder that is combined with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. It comes equipped with an upsized 7.6-kWh unit that allows the car to run up to 34kms at speeds up to 137kmph on electric mode alone. In US, the car is claimed to return 85 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) on electricity; however, the efficiency comes down to 38 mpg when it runs on petrol engine. So with a class-leading mileage figure and a powerful gasoline engine, this green car is a perfect city vehicle.

Using a 240-volt charger, the Energi's battery take two and a half hours to charge fully, while the battery takes seven hours with a standard 120-volt household outlet. The combined power output of 195bhp, the Fusion Energi is a fun-to-drive vehicle on freeways as well.

The Ford Fusion Energi is equipped with a series of driver assistance and convenience technologies, which makes driving easier. For example, its Lane Keeping system comes with a small, forward-facing camera to look down the road and monitor lane lines to keep it safe. This system indicates the driver if drowsiness is detected. The vehicle also gets Ford's Active Parking System and Blind Spot Information system.

Though we don’t have any plug-in hybrid Ford cars in India as of now, we sincerely believe that the American carmaker should bring such vehicles to our country as well especially when the central government is interested in promoting green cars.
