Top 10 Mileage Cars in India...

Among the most tempting features for a prospective buyer while purchasing a car is its fuel economy. When people plan to buy a model of their choice, they want the car to deliver an efficient mileage along with good performance on city roads as well as highways. In the past, it was believed that only a diesel version of an automobile returns a good mileage but over the years, the advancement in technology has made the petrol cars to also provide a similar performance. There are a number of mileage cars in India that are manufactured by global as well as domestic auto majors. The following list puts a limelight on the most fuel economical automobiles of the nation:

  1. In the first place is the mid-size sedan of the Japanese car manufacturer, Honda Amaze. This car is available in both petrol and diesel trims of capacity 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre, respectively.   1. Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire also does not lag behind in the mileage competition and delivers an efficient mileage of 19.1 kmpl (ARAI tested) with its 1.2-litre petrol engine. The 1.3-litre diesel engine with Direct Diesel Injection System (DDIS) produces a laudable fuel economy statistic of 23.4 kmpl.

  1. Next is the American auto major’s compact hatchback, called Chevrolet Beat. This car is also available in a diesel and petrol trim of capacity 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre, respectively. Chevrolet Beat mileage in the former guise is almost 25.5 kmpl, whereas, in the latter version, the car records a figure of 18.6 kmpl.

  1. Hyundai Verna mileage also touches the top spot of the fuel economy scale, with its 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engine recording a figure of 17.43 kmpl and 17 kmpl, respectively. On the other hand, the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel mills produce a fuel economy statistic of 23. 5 kmpl and 22.3 kmpl, respectively.

  1. The South-Korean auto major’s compact hatchback, Grand i10 also delivers efficient mileage and has been awarded the Car of the Year 2014 grant for the same reason. The cars 1.2-litre petrol engine records a decent mileage of 19 kmpl, whereas, the 1.1-litre diesel mill gives a fuel economy figure of 24 kmpl.

  1. Next is the Japanese auto maker's stylish hatchback, called Toyota Etios Liva. This car is available in petrol and diesel guise and both these engines arrive in different capacities. The 1.2-litre petrol mill of this hatchback delivers a fuel economy figure of 17.71 kmpl, whereas, the 1.4-litre diesel engine produces a statistic of 23.59 kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre petrol engine gives out 16.78 kmpl of fuel economy and Toyota Etios Liva mileage in 1.5-litre diesel mill is 23.59 kmpl.

  1. The Japanese car maker’s hot hatchback Nissan Micra is available in a 1.2-litre petrol engine with the option of a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The former delivers an efficient mileage of 18.44 kmpl and the latter records a figure of 23.08 kmpl.

  1. Maruti Suzuki Swift is a dynamic looking car and is among the top-notch sellers of the company. Its 1.2-litre petrol engine produces a mileage of 18.6 kmpl and the 1.3-litre diesel mill records a fuel economy of 22.9 kmpl.

  1. The German auto major’s sleek looking hatchback, Volkswagen Polo is also a good competitor in the most efficient mileage cars of the country. The car's 1.2-litre petrol engine records a mileage of 16.47 kmpl, whereas, this figure is elevated to 22.04 kmpl in the 1.2-litre diesel mill.

  1.  Chevrolet Sail is the mid-range sedan of the American car maker and is available in both diesel and petrol guise. Its 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers a fuel economy statistic of 18.2 kmpl and the 1.3-litre diesel mill records a figure of 22.1 kmpl.
