      Yamaha's new 125cc bike 'Saluto' launches on April 17, 2015

      Yamaha, the Japanese two-wheeler maker, will launch an all-new product in the Indian two-wheeler market on April 17, 2015. Though the company hasn't officially revealed the exact details about the product, it will most probably be a 125cc bike named 'Saluto'. The launch will take place in Chennai in the presence of Mr. Masaki Asano, MD, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. and Roy Kurian, VP, Sales & Marketing of Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd.

      The company's invitation said that the April 17 launch "unfolds another exciting chapter of its journey in India". There is a sketch of a commuter motorcycle on the invitation, suggesting that it will be an affordable bike. On closer look, it is visible that the motorcycle gets decent styling and features 5-spoke alloy wheels.

      The Yamaha Saluto is expected to be powered by a 123cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that also powers the SS 125. This engine is capable of producing 11PS of power and 10.4Nm of torque. Power is transferred to roads via a five-speed gearbox. The suspension mechanism of the bike comprises of telescopic forks upfront and coil springs at rear.

      The Saluto commuter motorcycle will rival against the likes of the TVS Phoenix and Honda Shine. It is expected to be priced at Rs. 50,000 - Rs. 55,000. The bike will be positioned below the YBA 125 in Yamaha lineup. It is expected to be fuel efficient with over 65kmpl of mileage.
