      For the first time, India Yamaha Motor has decided to venture into the scooter segment with its brand new model Ray. To be launched on September 14, 2012, the Ray has already received great advanced bookings and expects to generate a total of 2 month pre-bookings by the time of its launch.

      The sturdy and dependable Ray has been designed for young urban women executives and college goers. To vouch for the Ray's stylish appearance, current Bollywood heartthrob Deepika Padukone has been chosen as the brand ambassador and will also appear in the promotional campaigns of the vehicle.

      As a part of their promotional activities, India Yamaha Motor has launched a contest called 'Yamaha - Guess and Win, through which one can win the Ray by guessing its exact ex-showroom price, as per the respective state. The winner shall also get a chance to meet Deepika Padukone in person.       The decision to manufacture scooters was taken by the company after witnessing huge demand from college students and young women, who wanted a light-weight fuel efficient scooter for daily commuting. The Ray is expected to be a peppy machine with many attractive features. Following the launch of a new model in the country, Yamaha hopes to grab a market share of 10-15 per cent in the scooter segment. As a part of the marketing strategy, Yamaha is also engaged in strengthening its dealership network across India.
