      Will Tata Nano Bookings Open on August 15?

      Tata Motors has commenced production of its small car model Nano at its mother plant in Sanand, Guajarat. The company is fast completing orders of first one lakh customers which are expected to be fulfilled by October this year. Autocar reports that Tata Motors may once again start bookings for world’s cheapest car this month.

      It is being reported that Tata Motors wants to ride on the festive mood of Keralaites on Onam festival and has started taking bookings for the model in Kerala alone. For the rest of the country, bookings will re-open soon. “We are expediting despatch of Tata Nano’s for allottee and retainee customers for Kerala for delivery before Onam. Tata Motors will in due course open sales for the Nano in the rest of India”, said the Tata Motors spokesperson. Tata Motors spokesperson stated, “Onam is a very auspicious occasion in Kerala. During the month before Onam, residents of Kerala transact a large volume of new purchases, including cars. That is why, on the anvil of Onam, Tata Motors has announced that residents of Kerala, who are desirous of driving home a Tata Nano but had not booked the car during 2009, will be able to purchase a Tata Nano,” the spokesperson stated further.

      The company has come with a fresh campaign for Nano stating “Now You Can.” With fresh bookings, Tata Motors is expected to boost volumes to 20,000 Nanos a month by March next year which will make Tata Motors as the second largest car maker in India. The mother plant is also expected to start manufacturing in full capacity by March 2011.
