Indian arm of Volkswagen and its Czech subsidiary Skoda will spin off facelift variants of their respective sedans, Vento and Skoda in domestic markets during the festive season. From the stables of Volkswagen, Vento facelift will be rolled out, speculations are rife that launch could take place next month. Similarly, Skoda Rapid facelift is also expected to be spawned in the same month. A part of the same segment Vento and Skoda will be touted against sedans like Hyundai Verna, Honda City and upcoming Ciaz. Both the cars will sport several cosmetic changes and new features, besides this both the sedans will house 1.5 litre turbo diesel powertrain a striped down version of the previous 1.6 litre diesel motor. The same engine is employed in new Volkswagen Polo hatchback launched a while ago in India. Vento facelift is expected to get the 105 PS version of the 1.5 litre diesel powertrain mated to a six-speed DSG transmission. As for Rapid facelift, the 1.5 litre diesel engine could come in two states of tune- 90 PS variant belting out peak torque of 220 Nm and a 105 PS variant churning out maximum torque of 250 Nm.
Both the engines will be mated to a DSG gearbox. A 150 PS petrol automatic variant of Rapid could also be rolled out. A GT variant of sedan is also under consideration, if introduced the GT variant of Rapid will come packed with a 1.2 litre TSI engine engendering 103 Bhp of pinnacle power.
Apart from this, Vento and Rapid facelifts will be bestowed with a series of cosmetic changes and additional features. External changes made to Vento facelift include revised front bumper, restyled front grille and new alloy wheels donning a new design. Several tweaks will also be made inside the cabin. A new colour option will also be put on offer.
On the other hand tweaked Rapid is likely to get projector headlamps and body kit imparting sporty semblance. Couple of interior revisions will also be seen.
