Volvo, the well appreciated Swedish auto maker, launched its V40 Cross Country model in the Indian auto market amid great buzz. Priced at Rs. 28.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the model has been widely appreciated by the auto industry experts. It must be noted that the Volvo’s Indian division has ventured with Bajaj Allianz for the insurance of the model. Expressing his views at the launch ceremony, the Managing Director of Volvo Auto India, Tomas Ernberg was quoted as saying, “Volvo V40 Cross Country, which is a variant of the V40, represents a model that is premium in design, features, technology and safety. The car will bring in new impetus to our growth strategy in India.”
The recently launched Volvo V40 Cross Country has been equipped with a 2-litre, 5-cylinder diesel engine, which has the potential to churn out a maximum power of 150 bhp, with a peak torque of 350 Nm. Adding to the performance of this engine, a six speed transmission system has been assimilated in the model. The Marketing & PR Director for Volvo Auto India, Sudeep Narayan said, “The V40 Cross Country will attract the new generation of young up market luxury car buyers in India primarily because it offers high-end technology, drivability, safety and features parallel to none in this price bracket.”
With its new launch, the Swedish auto maker has delivered a stiff competition to the dominance of BMW X1, which has been priced between Rs. 27.9 lakh and Rs.32.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Daytime running LED lights, front as well as rear skid plates, integrated roof rails and 17-inch alloy wheels are some of the key highlights of the Volvo V40 Cross Country. At the interiors, the model has been offered with sculpted X-Shape design seats, an illuminated gearshift knob, a choice of either two-tone or single tone leather interiors and a panoramic roof.
Speaking on the occasion, Ernberg further added, “The Volvo V40 has received the top rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP collision test. The overall result is the best recorded by the institute so far. Volvo V40 Cross Country is a variant of the V40 represents a model which is Premium in Design, Features, Technology and Safety.”
